For someone brought up in Mumbai, Haydon has had a very unusual upbringing. Her mother Anna has been working with charity organisation Home Care International for two-odd decades now. It was this work that brought her to India where she met and married Haydon’s father, Venkat. “My siblings and I were all taught at home by our mother. But even though we didn’t attend regular school like other kids, we still had to get up early in the morning, just like them, and sit for exams,” she laughs.
Lisa Haydon is making her debut with 'Aisha'. She said that she is passionate about modeling and she also had a keen interest for acting. She also intends to strike a balance between both her careers. However, Lisa maintained that modeling and acting are quite different.
Q. So, you are on your way to becoming another model-turned-actor?
A. I am passionate about modelling. I’ve not used my modelling background to score in the field of acting. The role came to me. Harbouring a keen interest in acting, I kick-started with it. I want to start small before I graduate to doing bigger things. Acting is a process and not about being a star. I intend to strike a balance between both my careers.
Q. What made you start off with this role in 'Aisha'?
A. It was a character that got me hooked to the film. I wanted to play an independent modern woman of today. I wanted to start off on a practical note. The production house and cast also seemed just right to give my nod to the project.
Q. How has the experience been so far?
A. It has been an eye-opener. I can’t wait to do my scenes. I was nervous initially, but now, I’ve got to know my character.
Q. The general notion is that it’s difficult for a fresher to make a mark in Bollywood...
A. I don’t think it’s difficult to make a mark anywhere. In every profession, it’s finally your hard work and dedication that will tide you through.
Q. Being a model, do you think modelling and acting are two different worlds or do they complement each other?
A. They are, in fact, quite different. Modelling assignments are through within a day or two, whereas, acting is a much larger commitment. Besides, modelling has a much limited shelf life as compared to one’s stint before the camera.
Q. In order to be seen and heard in the modelling circuit, is it essential to be a showstopper?
A. I don’t think so. Being consistent at your work matters. Showstopping acts might bring in extra money or add that extra glam quotient. But it isn’t essential to be a showstopper to grab eyeballs.
