PANTOMIME AT THEATRE ROYAL STRATFORD EAST 'ALADDIN'

Theatre Royal Stratford East, London is reuniting the same creative team that achieved the first ever Olivier Award nomination for a pantomime for its new production of Aladdin

2009-11-09

28 November 2009 – 16 January 2010

Theatre Royal’s Artistic Director and Director of Aladdin, Kerry Michael, Trish Cooke (Book), Robert Hyman (Songs), Omar Okai (Choreographer) and Jenny Tiramani (Set Designer), all of whom made Cinderella so special, have been joined this year by Matthew Xia (Associate Director), Kristen Dempsey (Costume Designer), Sean Green (Musical Director), Mark Doubleday (Lighting Designer), John Leonard (Sound Designer), Paul Kieve (Illusionist), Darren Lang (Associate Illusionist) and Antonio Ferrara (Assistant Director).

Kerry Michael said: “Building on the success of our 2007 nomination I am very excited that the same team is coming together again to create a new version of this classic pantomime. There will, as ever, be lots of new songs, real fun and adventure as well a magical flying carpet courtesy of top illusionist Paul Kieve.”

The cast includes Darren Kuppan (Aladdin), Michael Bertenshaw (Abanazar), Derek Elroy (Ma Twanky), Deeivya Meir (Princess), Peter Straker (Genie of the Lamp), Chloe Allen (Wishy), Alton Letto (Washy), Toni Palmer (Slave of the Ring), Angelo Paragoso (Sultan) and Sharona Sassoon (The Royal Skivvy) with supporting roles provided by Holly Dempsey and Danai Mavunga.

Theatre Royal will be the place to enjoy a traditional pantomime with an original modern twist. Aladdin will feature a magical flying carpet among other amazing special effects, the best good-guys, the worst baddies and great new songs to sing along to, not forgetting London's loudest and liveliest audience!
