Talking to BBC Asian Network presenter Adil Ray about her phenomenal singing career spanning over six decades - Asha Bhosle said though singing for films wasn’t her original choice, she credits her eventual success and international fame to it.
Looking back, Asha admits her regret about getting married to her first husband at a very young age. She also confessed that she sang for films only to support her family.
But looking at the positive side of it, Asha thinks the marriage was just a catalyst that initiated her singing career in Bollywood.
Out of all her co-artists Kishore Kumar was her favorite singer and enjoyed working with him. She was musically influenced by the unique singing styles of Bill Baile, Dean Martin and absolutely loved Elvis Presley.
