Launched in 2003 by Ambika Hinduja, Serendipity Films upholds a commitment to making quality, avant-garde and popular global cinema for international audiences. Committed to making truly international cinema examining themes such as guilt and glamour, identity and displacement, deception and truth.
While the idea of independent cinema was still nascent in India, Ambika produced ‘Being Cyrus’, a film noir that examined the themes of greed and identity, with critically acclaimed performances by Saif Ali Khan, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia. This debut feature film was an art house hit that won numerous awards, and remained a firm favourite on the international film festival circuit. ‘Teen Patti’ is the second film to emerge from the forward-thinking and futuristic Serendipity stable, already much hyped on the international film circuit.
As one of the scions of the illustrious Hinduja Family, Ambika is daughter of Ashok P. Hinduja, youngest of the four Hinduja brothers.
Born in the film capital of Asia, Bombay, Ambika's determination to succeed as a filmmaker led her to London, where she attended The London International Film School.
Cosmopolitan tutelage in film direction, production and editing exposed Ambika to all the fascinating and complicated facets of filmmaking.
Upon her return to India, she assisted veteran film director, Subhash Ghai, on his film ‘Yaadein’. Subsequently she worked with directors, Mahesh Manjrekar (National Award Winner 2001) and Farhan Akthar (National Award Winner 2002) as assistant director, before launching Serendipity Films in 2003.
'Teen Patti' is due for a worldwide release in cinemas on the 26th February
